October 28, 2016—North Star Editions, Inc. (NSE) has acquired the assets of Jolly Fish Press, a Utah-based publisher of young adult, middle-grade fiction, and adult fiction. Under the purchase agreement, the acquisition includes the Jolly Fish Press imprint name and all copyrights to backlist and forthcoming titles. NSE also assumes all partnership agreements.“It’s with a heavy heart that I say goodbye to five wonderful years at the helm of JFP, but I’m grateful that the books—and the mission we set out to achieve—will live on under the North Star Editions brand,” said Christopher Loke, Publisher of JFP.

July 21, 2016—Jolly Fish Press (JFP) has acquired the World English publication and sub rights to Donna Hill’s They Call This Place Here, an epistolary novel spanning three generations that tells the story of a family whose lives are played against the struggle of the Civil Rights movement, the race riots of the 90s, and the racial tension of the twenty-first century. McKelle George, acquisitions editor at Jolly Fish Press, headed the deal. They Call This Place Here is scheduled to be released Winter of 2018.

Double Jeopardy for “Gabriel's Daughters”

Janet Jensen's Gabriel's Daughters has been officially nominated for the 2015 Whitney Awards. The Whitneys are an awards program for novels written by LDS authors.

Kristy Acevedo's The Holo Series has been catching fire since we first acquired it. Now, it has gained the attention of Blackstone Audio, one of the nation's biggest independent audiobook publishers; The Holo Series will be published simultaneously in audiobook format by Blackstone Audio upon the books' release.

The first book of the series, Consider, will be release Spring of 2016 followed by its final installment the following Fall.

Jolly Fish Press (JFP) has signed a two-book deal with YA author Kristy Acevedo, acquiring her explosive debut, Consider, winner of the 2015 PEN New England Susan P. Johnny Worthen Awarded 2014 Writer of the Year

Johnny Worthen, award-winning author of The Unseen series, has yet another award to add to his list of accolades and successes. He has been officially named the League of Utah Writers 2014 Writer of the Year.

Johnny's Celeste was just released this July, and his new adult mystery-thriller will be released November of 2015.
